Alma Marie Miller, 91, formally of Groves, Texas, passed away on May 24, 2022, at Brookdale Fredericksburg road in San Antonio, Texas.
Memorial services are Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas.
Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on March 4, 1931, she was the daughter of Harmon G Payne and Birdie Dobb.
Marie graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas, and attended Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas. She received an Associates of Arts Degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Groves.
She returned from Lon Morris to take care of her sick mother. Marie and Lew met while carpooling to Lamar. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Lew Miller, her sister, Juanita Hebert, and her three brothers Roy Payne, Joe Payne, and Frank Payne.
She is survived by two sons and their families, David and his wife Kelley of New York City, Gary and his wife Sarah of San Antonio, and two grandsons, Wesley and his wife Kyle, and Aaron, and by two great-grandchildren Adelyn Miller and Colton Miller of Wolfforth, Texas. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
