Alvie McMullen

Alvie Covey McMullen, 94, passed away at Manor Care Nursing Home in Webster, TX, on August 2, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Carl Dorman "C.D." McMullen, as well as her sisters and brothers, Jean Pepper, Rebecca Bodine, Ray Covey and Tommy Covey. Alvie was born in DeRidder Louisiana and moved to Port Arthur, TX when she got married. Together, she and her husband settled down in Groves, TX, where they raised their three children and were faithful members of First Baptist Church of Groves. She is survived by her three children Wayne McMullen and wife, Barbara of Beaumont, TX, Pat Singleton and husband Bob Williams of Moore Park, CA., and Sue Whittington of Friendswood, TX. She was a proud grandmother of six grandchildren Stacy McMullen Deebs, Michael McMullen, Kent Singleton, Kristie Mayer, Carrie Block and Kacey Webb and nine great grandchildren. A visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday August 6th from 1;00 to 2:00p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home at 5601 39th Street in Groves. The funeral will begin at 2:00 and will be followed by the burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland, Texas. The family would like to give a special thanks to Alvie's niece Kathy Hauseman and all her care givers at Manor Care Nursing Home. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and all her many dear friends she made over the years.
