Belle Smith, 81, of Bridge City, Texas passed away Friday, August 27, 2021, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
She was born in Rayne, Louisiana, on September 25, 1939 to Onezime Melancon and Matilda Meche Melancon.
A visitation for family and friends will begin at 12:30 p.m., Monday, August 30, 2021 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Matt McCallon officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Phillip Smith, Jr., Rodney Robison, Dudley Guidry, Rodney Robison, II, Dustin Robison, Matt Peterson, Aaron Scarborough, Hurley Padgett and honorary pallbearer, Blaine Dugas.
Belle is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 55 years, Phillip Smith of Bridge City, Texas, daughter, Debbie Robison and husband Rodney of Kirbyville, Texas, son; Phillip Smith, Jr. and wife Cristy of Bridge City, Texas; sister, Lynn Nell Guidry and husband Dudley of Bridge City, Texas; brothers, Andrus Credeur, Jr. and wife Margaret of Bridge City, Texas and Donald Credeur of Houston, Texas; twelve grandchildren, Rodney Robison, II, Dustin Robison, Dani Peterson, Rachel Odom, Roxanne Scarborough, Destiny Padgett, Jordan Smith, Kaitlyn Smith, Lauren Smith, Madison Smith, Colby Burnett, Bailee Maresh, fifteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends!
She touched many people's lives with her sweet spirit, easy smile and contagious laugh. She loved to cook and always prepared enough to feed a small army, surprising a few unsuspecting people with her generous seasoning style. She had a giving heart and delighted in giving gifts to those she loved. She loved all animals at all times and most especially her cat, Aspen, who loved only Belle.
She was preceded in death by her father, Onezime Melancon; mother, Matilda Melancon Trahan; sister, Michelle Bourque; and brothers, Wilbert Melancon and Tony Trahan.
