David Newton Whitehead

David Newton Whitehead, 98, of Groves, Texas passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at his home. He was born June 6, 1921 in Beaumont, Texas to Robert Nathan Whitehead and Jesse McMahon Whitehead. David was a member of First Baptist Church of Groves, Groves Masonic Lodge #1315, Mt. Hope Lodge #121, El Mina Shrine, York Rite and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Orange as a Maintenance Foreman. David proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. A visitation for family and friend will be Tuesday, December 10, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Graveside services will be in Whitehead Cemetery in Chester, Texas on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Russell Duplantis officiating. The family will have a visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the cemetery. David was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Marjorie Faye Whitehead. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Balentine and husband Barry of Groves, Texas, son, James Whitehead and wife Tammy of Chester, Texas, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
