Doris Burleigh Broussard

Doris Burleigh Broussard, 95, of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away November 29, 2021 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, Texas.

Because of Covid concerns, the family has chosen to have a Private Service for Doris, but would like to thank friends, family, and the community for their outpouring love, concern and support during this difficult time.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home Port Neches. Officiating will be Reverend John Hughes. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.

Born in Sunset, Louisiana, of July 16, 1926, she was the daughter of Lucius and Bathilde (Savoy) Burleigh.

Doris was a lifelong resident of this area and a retired Clerical Assistant with the Port Arthur ISD. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where she was very involved with The A.C.T.S. Community and also served on the Bereavement Committee. Doris volunteered in the Gift Shop at Christus St. Mary Hospital for many years. She loved the time she spent gathering with the Soul Sisters group. Doris enjoyed working in her yard planting flowers and keeping her home in pristine condition.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Broussard; her brothers, Hurshel Burleigh and Emery Burleigh.

She is survived by her son, Steve Broussard and his wife, Cynthia of Port Arthur, Texas; brothers, Audrey Burleigh of Port Arthur, Texas and Larrol Burleigh and wife Eleanor of Pasadena, Texas; and sister, Genella Dawson of Camarillo, California.
