Dorothy Van Slyke

Dorothy Van Slyke, 87, of Groves passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Magnolia Manor in Groves. She was born May 24, 1924 in Port Arthur, Texas to Joe Salazar and Virginia Brown Salazar. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of this area and member of Christian Life Center in Cleveland, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Stancil Park Cemetery in Cleveland, Texas with Reverend Franklin Howard officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Doris Sparks of Port Neches, Tx. and Dee Crosthwait of Grapevine, Tx., two sons, Ervin Van Slyke and wife, Arlene of Houston, Tx., and Gerald Van Slyke and wife, Roberta of Cleveland, Tx., brother, Raymond Salazar and wife, Barbara of Bridge City, Tx., seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
