Mr. Jerdy Joseph Fontenot

March 12, 1936 - February 11, 2022

Jerdy Joseph Fontenot, 85, of Groves, Texas passed away on February 11, 2022 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at The Port Neches Park Pavilion. Born in Mamou, Louisiana on March 12, 1936, he was the son of Ulysses “U.Z.” Fontenot and Eva Veillon Fontenot. Jerdy was a lifelong area resident and owned his own barbershop, Uptown Barber Shop, in Port Arthur. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Jerdy loved playing his penny machines, gardening and riding all around the golden triangle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Fontenot, three brothers and one son-in-law. Jerdy is survived by his daughter, Lana Patterson of Groves; son, Paul Fontenot and wife Julie of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Natalee Shifflett, Kara Patterson, Elloise Patterson, Crystal Carter, Erica Fontenot, Wade Fontenot and Wyatt Givan and sister, JoAnn James of Port Neches and ten great-grandchildren.
