Joseph Hooker Castleman

Joseph H. Castleman, 79, of Port Neches, went to be with his Lord and Savior while he was surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June 25, 2022, in Port Neches, Texas.

Funeral services will be 11:00a.m, Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Officiating will be Dr. Joe Worley and Reverend Charles Miller. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Visitation will be from 10:00a.m. to 11:00a.m., Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.

He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on August, 27, 1942. He was the son of Joseph Connell Castleman and Agnes Virginia Johnson Castleman. The family moved to Texas when he was twelve years old. He graduated in 1960 from South Park High School. After graduating he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in secondary Education and his Administration certificate from Lamar University. He was then hired by PNGISD as a teacher and administrator for thirty years. He would light up anytime one of his ex-students would recognize him, say hello and tell him that he was their favorite teacher. He married is high school sweetheart Nelda R. Graves Castleman in 1963, and they were married for fifty-nine wonderful years, while raising their two children. Joe was a lifetime avid sportsman, where he loved to hunt, fish, golf, and shoot competively. He was a member of Texas State Teachers Association, First Baptist Church of Groves, National Rifle Association, and International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association.


He is survived by his wife, Nelda R. Castleman of Port Neches, TX; son, Joseph “Brian” Castleman and wife Angela of Celina, TX; daughter, Becky Hebert and husband Buddy of Port Neches, TX; five grandchildren, Braye Hardy; Bryant Hardy and wife MacKenah; Connor Castleman; Kayli Hebert; Hayden Hebert; great grandson Bradley James Hardy; sisters, Norma Davidson and husband John of Rochester Minnesota; Lori Carl and husband Keith of Port Neches, and many nieces and nephews.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Groves. A portion of which will be given to the Gideon Bible Organization.
