Juanita Caywood Dear, 90, of Beaumont, Texas passed away on Friday, May 21st, 2021, at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont, Texas. She was born September 12, 1930 in Sherman, Texas to Orville Leroy Caywood, Sr. and Neta Sanders Caywood. In 1934, she moved with her family to Beaumont, Texas. After graduating from Beaumont High School in the class of 1947, she attended Lamar State College of Technology (the name at the time). She also worked part time at KRIC Radio in Beaumont. There, she met her future husband, Robert Edward "Bob" Dear, who was a Disc Jockey at the station. They were married on July 28, 1948 in Beaumont, Texas. They lived in Beaumont, Orange, Groves, and Port Neches, Texas. Sixteen years and two daughters later, Juanita returned to Lamar and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She also certified in Special Education. She taught first grade for seven years at "Old Groves Elementary" and 19 years at Taft Elementary in Groves, Texas. In 1974, she was one of the founding members of St. Michaels Episcopal Church in Groves, Texas. When St. Michaels closed in 1996, she transferred to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Port Neches, Texas. When she moved in 2008, she joined Round Rock Presbyterian Church in Round Rock, Texas. At Holy Trinity, she served on the Vestry, was President of the Episcopal Church Women (ECW), and was a member of Daughters of the King (DOK). She was also a member of Texas Classroom Teachers Association, Texas Retired Teachers Association, and a life member of PTA. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Bob Dear; four sisters: Willie May Setzer and husband Howard Setzer, Irene Farley and husband Frank Farley, Mozelle Harvill and husband S.L. Harvill, Rosemary Boyce and husband Walter Boyce; two brothers, Orville L. Caywood, Jr. and wife Betty Jo Young Caywood, Sidney Caywood, and one sister-in-law, Joan Caywood. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Vandiver of Georgetown, Texas, Lori Graham and husband, Gary, of Bridge City, Texas; six grandchildren, Jeromy Vandiver of Georgetown, Texas, Justin Vandiver and wife, Christie, of Georgetown, Texas, Jarred Vandiver and wife, Ashley, of Groves, Texas, Natalie Traylor and husband, Todd, of Leander, Texas, Carrie Graham of Austin, Texas, Robert Graham and wife, Annie, of Bellingham, Washington; fourteen great-grandchildren, Kaylee Vandiver, Kylie Vandiver, Christian Vandiver, Kadence Williams, Rylan Vandiver, Christina Goodwin, Preston Vandiver, Ashlyn Brown, Jacob Traylor, Gwenyth Graham, Jack Graham, Will Graham, Montana Berry and Branson Nolan; one great-great-grandchild, Aiden Edgar; one brother, Howard Caywood of Beaumont, Texas, one sister-in-law, Dale Caywood, of Beaumont, Texas; and nineteen nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 11:00 am at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas, with Dr. Joe Worley officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. The visitation will be Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 10:00 am preceding the funeral at Levingston Funeral Home at 5601 39th Street in Groves, Texas. Pallbearers will be Jeromy Vandiver, Justin Vandiver, Jarred Vandiver, Christian Vandiver, Robert Graham, Todd Traylor, and Jacob Traylor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church General Memorial Fund 2425 Nall Street, Port Neches, Texas 77651, or Round Rock Presbyterian Church 4010 Sam Bass Road, Round Rock, Texas 78681.
