Mary Louise Bean

Mary Louise Moak Bean, 91, of Mont Belvieu, Texas, succumbed to illness at Houston Methodist, Baytown campus, on December 25, 2019. Mary was born on November 4, 1928, in McComb, Mississippi, to the late Nolan and Velma Moak. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles R. Bean, her sister Lavelle "Cootsie" Carter, and son-in-law Jackie Byrd. Mary is survived by her children Judy Bean Byrd, Charles R. "Bob" Bean, Jr. and wife Nancy, grandchildren Jennifer Byrd Dalby and husband Jason, Tiffany Bean Woodward and husband Brodie, Ryan Bean, Julie Byrd Wylie and husband Chris, Jordan Byrd and wife Deborah, thirteen great-grandchildren Tyler, Cody, Tyler, Brooke, Madison, Chance, Sarah, Hannah, Major, Brylea, Boss, Champ, and Legend, as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all. Mary led a fruitful life. She attended the public schools of Pike County in McComb, Mississippi. She excelled in athletics such as basketball and track. Mary met her sweetheart Charles upon his return from the war and married soon after. She lived a life devoted to her family. Retirement was good to Mary and Charles as they lived on Toledo Bend Lake for many years before moving to Mont Belvieu. They enjoyed the peaceful water on the lake and hosting many family and friend gatherings. Mary was also an excellent cook, 42-player, sports spectator, and dessert connoisseur. Mary was an active servant of The Lord and spent her years worshipping at Trinity Baptist Church in Groves, Texas, Burkeville Baptist Church in Burkeville, Texas, and Old River Baptist Church in Old River-Winfree, Texas. Not only did she enjoy sports but also entertaining others with her JOYous nature and witty personality. She loved to make people laugh. Mary never met a stranger, and always was filled with words of encouragement. Mary will be missed by many but remembered for her loving nature. A visitation for family and friends will be Friday, December 27, 2019 from 12 noon-1:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. Funeral service for Mary will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland,TX, on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband. Pastor Ronnie Webb will be officiating.
